How the Line Works

When you call in and record a greeting, the line lets other callers hear it and lets you hear theirs. When you find someone you like, you can send them a private message or start a live one-on-one conversation — all inside the call, without ever exchanging phone numbers.

A message is a short recorded note you send to another caller, like a voice DM. A live chat is a real-time one-on-one conversation. Many people trade a message or two first, then move into a live chat if there's a spark.

Yes. You can send messages to several callers and have as many separate live chats as you like over time — one at a time. It's a great way to find who you really click with.

Just follow the voice prompts to move on to the next greeting or end a chat. You never have to explain yourself, and the other caller isn't told why. If someone is being disrespectful, you can also report them.

No. Your phone number is never shown to other callers. You're identified only by the screen name and greeting you choose to share.

Yes. You can re-record your greeting any time you call in — handy if you want to mention a different city, mood or what you're looking for that night.
